We welcome applications from individuals who wish to spend a few months in Tbilisi for focused research, experimentation, and exchange.
Please submit:
- CV
- PDF portfolio (with working links to relevant projects, websites, or media)
- A short statement outlining your research focus, why Tbilisi AiR and Tbilisi are relevant to your work, and what you hope to explore during your stay
Shortlisted applicants may be invited to a brief online conversation to discuss the proposal and clarify questions from both sides.
Duration and number of residents:
- Length of stay: 1–3 months
- This residency is primarily designed for individual artists. We also welcome applications from artistic duos applying as a joint project; fees may vary depending on housing arrangements.
- While the program is not specifically set up for families, this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis depending on capacity.
The residency is intentionally small, so we can work closely with each participant, tailor support to individual practices, and allow each stay to unfold gradually over time.
- Apply at least 4 months before your preferred start date.
- Applications are usually reviewed within one month.
For more detailed information about our residency programme, open calls, or selection process, please email us.
What you need to know:
The residency is not active during the following periods due to holidays and seasonal conditions:
- Mid-December to mid-January. New Year is celebrated twice in Georgia, according to both the modern and old calendars. This results in an extended festive period, during which much of the city slows down.
- Mid-July – mid-August: It is advisable not to stay in the city during this period due to the heat.
Residencies during this time may still be arranged upon request.
FAQ: During the residency period, all residents must have health insurance that is still valid. We advise you to take out travel insurance to cover the loss or theft of your personal belongings, but this is not compulsory.
